How does it work?
Melamet cream is manufactured in India by Universal Twin Labs a dermatological pioneer. It conatins 3 active ingredients namely
- Hydroquinone works on the pigment-producing cells directly, slowing down how much melanin they release, so the dark patches lighten gradually over several weeks.
- Mometasone is a mild steroid. It calms the irritation that hydroquinone and tretinoin can cause together, keeping redness and inflammation under control while the other two ingredients wor
- Tretinoin speeds up skin cell turnover. It pushes the pigmented, older cells to the surface faster so they shed off sooner than they normally would.
How to Apply Melamet Cream
- Wash the face with a mild cleanser. Pat the skin dry. Do not rub.
- Wait about 20 minutes so the skin is completely dry before applying anything. Take a pea-size amount of Melamet Cream and spread a thin layer only over the dark patches, not the entire face.
- Apply at night only. Avoid the eyes, lips, and any broken skin.
- In the morning, sunscreen is non-negotiable. Tretinoin and hydroquinone both make skin more sensitive to UV light, and skipping sunscreen can undo weeks of progress.
How Long Before Melamet Cream Shows Results?
Most people see the irritation settle within the first two weeks. Visible lightening of the dark patches usually starts around week four to six, with fuller results by week eight to twelve.
Melasma is slow to respond by nature. Expecting overnight change leads to disappointment and unnecessary over-application. Use as described by your dermatologist.
Side Effects
- Burning or stinging right after application
- Dryness and flaking, especially in the first two weeks
- Redness around the treated patches
- Mild peeling as the skin turns over faster
- Increased sensitivity to sunlight
- Thinning of the skin if used for too long without a break
