What Mebex 100 mg Tablet?

Mebex 100 mg Tablet contains mebendazole 100 mg as its active ingredient. It comes as a plain tablet made by Cipla. Mebendazole is an antiparasitic drug. It is used to clear worm infections from the body and worm-related skin problems that come with them.

The Skin and Body Conditions It Treats

Worm infections do not always stay hidden. Pinworm, roundworm, whipworm, and hookworm are the main targets of this tablet.

Hookworm causes a visible skin reaction. It appears as a raised, itchy, moving track on the skin surface where the larva has burrowed. This is called cutaneous larva migrans. It causes redness and intense itching on the affected area. Children pick up these infections most often. Adults are not immune either especially after contact with contaminated soil or in areas with poor sanitation.

How Mebendazole Works Against Worms in the Skin and Gut

Mebendazole 100 mg blocks a structural protein in the worm called tubulin. Worms need tubulin to absorb glucose. Without it, they starve. The worms cannot feed, cannot reproduce, and die off within days.

For skin infections like cutaneous larva migrans, the drug reaches the larva through the bloodstream after being absorbed in the gut. The larva stops moving and the skin track fades. Itching reduces over the following days. You will not see the worm leave the skin — it breaks down inside the body.

How to Take Mebex 100 mg

One tablet, chewed or swallowed, with or without food.

  1. That covers most worm infections.
  2. For pinworm, a single dose is usually enough one tablet, once.
  3. For roundworm, whipworm, or hookworm, the course runs three days.
  4. Take one tablet in the morning and one at night.
  5. Do not crush the tablet into food or drink.
  6. Swallow it whole with water.

This is an oral tablet that works from the inside. The active ingredient reaches the worms through your digestive system, not through the skin directly. Keep the routine consistent across all three days if your doctor has prescribed the longer course.

How Long Does a Course of Mebex 100 mg Last?

For pinworm, one tablet is the full treatment. One dose, done.

For roundworm, hookworm, and whipworm, the course is three days.

Take two tablets per day morning and evening for three consecutive days.

If the infection returns after treatment, a second course may be needed after two to three weeks. Skin symptoms from hookworm typically start improving within three to five days of starting mebendazole.

Side Effects

Most people handle mebendazole without issues. Side effects are mild and pass on their own. The ones to watch for include:

  • Stomach pain or cramping
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea
  • Flatulence
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Skin rash or itching at the site of a hookworm track

If any of these effects continue for a longer period of time or get worse, contact your doctor. Stop use and see a doctor immediately if you develop severe stomach pain, blistering skin, swelling of the face or throat, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Who Should Not Take This Tablet

Do not take Mebex 100 mg during the first trimester of pregnancy. Mebendazole is not safe in early pregnancy. People with a known allergy to mebendazole or any component of the tablet should avoid it. Children under two years old should not take this medication without specific medical guidance.

Tell your doctor if you have liver disease before starting. The drug is broken down by the liver. Existing liver problems can affect how it clears from the body.

People often ask whether food affects how well mebendazole works. For most worm infections it does not. A fatty meal can increase how much the body absorbs, which matters for tissue-invasive infections. Your doctor will advise if this applies to you.

Store the tablets at room temperature, away from direct heat and moisture. Keep them in the original pack until use.
